The father of Helena Vitchinine, Alexander, died around the age of sixty, leaving his wife and 4 children. At 50 years of age Helena Petrovna stayed with Alexander Karlovitch Boggavut who was Governor of Poltava and then of Kursk until the revolution.
The founder of the Vitchinines was an official and played a valorous role in the Russo-Turkish war. There he fell in love with a Turkish woman of the Sultans’ Harem, kidnapped her, brought her to Russia, and married her.
